Biomechanical Assessment
A biomechanical assessment involves an in-depth and thorough examination of how your joints, muscles, ligaments and tendons move. This helps our podiatrist to determine what is hurting and why.
An assessment will include a hip, knee, ankle, forefoot and toe assessment non-weight bearing and then standing. Gait analysis is conducted through the use of video footage which allows the podiatrist to slow down, speed up and pause your foot and lower leg motion leading to a more accurate and detailed analysis. We use Silicon Coach, a high tech software program to analyse walking and running, allowing a more accurate understanding of what is causing your problems.
Functional activities will also be conducted to gain an insight in to your range of motion, testing muscle strength, weakness, stability and flexibility. A foot posture, and general posture assessment is also performed. These assessments give our podiatrists a holistic view of how your body functions and how your injuries and pain are occurring and what we can do to help.
A detailed report and action plan will be developed to give you a solid understanding of what is occurring in the feet and legs and how our podiatrists can help with your pain and function and get you back to your activity and daily life with happy feet.
Whether you have foot and leg pain, are concerned with your foot and leg alignment or just wish to have our podiatrist assess your walking pattern then a biomechanical assessment is for you.
