Plantar Fasciitis/Arch & Heel Pain
Plantar fasciitis is one of the most common foot conditions that we see at Feet 4 life Podiatry. The plantar fascia is a thick fibrous band which connects your heel bone to your toes by holding up your arch. Repetitive micro-tears and inflammation around the heel cause damage and subsequent pain in the heel or arch area. The pain is worse after rest and can fluctuate from day to day.
There are a number of contributing factors for the development of this condition. At feet 4 life podiatry we undertake extensive and specific podiatry assessments to identify exactly which structures are involved and WHY. Some of these contributing factors include:
- Rolling inwards or collapsed arches
- Tight or weak leg muscles
- Inadequate fitting or inappropriate footwear
- Overuse exercises
- Inappropriate exercise regimes
- Recent weight gain
Plantar fasciitis can be a debilitating and painful condition. If left untreated it can become a CHRONIC/ ONGOING condition which is very difficult to get rid of.
